Cornus kousa
Flowerheads of large white bracts bloom June-July above lustrous, medium green leaves. Edible strawberry-like fruit hangs below yellow and scarlet foliage in the fall. Handsome small specimen tree. Native to East Asia. Prefers moist, well-draining soil. Keep well-watered during droughts.
Kousa Dogwoods are more cold hardy and have better disease resistance than our native Dogwoods.
