Vase-shaped with a narrow crown. Pleasing green foliage turns bronze-orange in fall. A relative of the beloved American Elm, but with high resistance to Dutch Elm Disease and Japanese Beetles. Excellent shade tree. Low maintenance. Japanese Zelkovas have good heat and drought tolerance.

Japanese Zelkova trees are included in the The City of Asheville's Recommended Species List (2022).
