Available in different foliage colors, this fragrant sun lover prefers humusy soil but will tolerate poor soils, heat, and drought once established.
Flowers and foliage are edible. Flowers can be used in salads, jams, jellies, or as garnish. Foliage can be added to teas, and dried for potpourri. Foliage best used fresh.
Attracts hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies.
Tender perennial. Usually grown as an annual here, or grown in containers and overwintered indoors.
Native to Mexico, where it was used in traditional medicine.
Full sun. Moist, well-draining soil. Low maintenance.
