Cedrus deodara 'Sanders's Blue'

A grand and breathtakingly beautiful coniferous evergreen tree, and the bluest of all Deodar Cedars with its striking powder-blue foliage and contrasting silvery new growth. New growth is powder blue and has a graceful drooping form. Older growth slowly darkens with age to a blue-green which shows off the lovely new tips. Excellent specimen.

Prefer moist, well-draining soil.

Cold hardy to Zone 6a (-10F).

Plant Nerd: These trees are native to the Himalayan mountains of northern India and Pakistan, where they are valued as sacred trees, and can be found planted in temples. In Sanskrit, "Deva" means "god" and "daru" means "tree", so the epithet "deodara" means "the tree of the gods".
