Japanese Maple 'Tamukeyama'
Acer palmatum var. dissectum ‘Tamukeyama’

Graceful, mounding, dwarf trees with waxy deep red bark, and beautiful cascading branches. Deeply lobed new foliage is deep crimson-red changing to a beautiful purple-red throughout the summer and holds the color well through summer, turning bright scarlet-red in the fall. Tamukeyama is known for strong heat and humidity tolerance, and can be grown further south than most Japanese Maples.

Additionally, Tamuyekama tends to leaf out 2 weeks later in spring than many other Japanese Maples, enabling it to better avoid spring frosts.

Tamukeyama is one of the older Japanese cultivars, and was released by Kobayashi momiji en in 1710. They are such excellent and beloved trees that they are still sought after to this day.

Slow grower, ideal small specimen in entry ways and containers.

10’T x W.

Zones 5-8 / cold hardy down to -20F.

Plant Nerd: "Tamukeyama" translates to "hands folded in prayer on a mountain," often referring to a mountain or the Tamuki region in Japan.
