Pyrus pyrifolia 'Raja'
This is a must-have variety if you like flavor!!! The fruit is an attractive golden brown with a very sweet, richly flavored, absolutely delectable buttersotch-honey taste. A hardy, productive, and fairly disease resistant variety. Best for fresh eating. Trees are vigorous.
Must be pollinated by another Asian pear.
Not entirely certain on the chill hours, but several RCN staff members have successfully grown delicious Raja pears here in WNC.
