This rose has quite the story: Ludwig Taschner is a nurseryman from East Germany who escaped from that country in 1961. He worked and trained around Europe before moving to South Africa, where he established a large and thriving plant nursery. A specialist in roses, he has been working with numerous breeders to find exceptional roses. In October of 2006, Archbishop Desmond Tutu turned 75 years of age, and Ludwig named this rose in honor of the work he'd done in South Africa towards the cause of peace.
A portion of the sales of this rose goes towards the Tygerberg Children’s Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa, of which the Archbishop & Mrs. Tutu are patrons.
Scent: moderate to light.
Repeat bloomer, with flowers blooming in clusters as singly during the growing season.
