Gorgeous! Large, double-pink spring flowers backed by bronze-red new growth. Foliage turns dark green by summer, then bronze in fall. Upright, spreading habit. Superb as a single specimen, lining driveways, walkways, and can be grown in large containers.
'Kwanzan' is one of the showiest and most spectacular flowering cherries, and was originally bred in Japan during the Edo period.
'Kwanzan' flowering cherries were introduced to the USA in the early 1900s, as part of a wave of interest in flowering cherries from Japan.
