Lovely female American Holly. Native. Vigorous grower with abundant fruit and a compact, upright habit. Olive green evergreen foliage. Easy to prune and shape. Beautiful screen, hedge, as a specimen, in wreaths and other holiday decor. Red berries provide winter interest and high quality food, shelter, & nesting habitat for birds. Needs male Ilex opaca for berries.

The original Satyr Hill holly was a seedling discovered growing on Satyr Hill road, in Parkville Maryland. It was found by S. Mclean who happened to have a plant nursery right there at Satyr Hill!
American hollies are very rugged and durable, and provide valuable food for wildlife in winter. They are also popular in winter decor, such as fresh wreaths, swags, arrangements, centerpieces, and more.
