Juncus effusus 

Attractive narrow, round, foliage and upright habit. Evergreen perennial. Excellent in wet areas, low spots, or meadows. Can grow with 1-4” of water over the crown. Low maintenance.

These plants have many uses, and are excellent in native plant gardens, wildlife gardens, water gardens, habitat restoration projects, and for garden designs that aim to be more naturalistic.

Attracts birds who may use it for a nesting site or just for a safe, shelter space.

Species is native to WNC, most of the US, and in many parts of the world.

These plants have a long history of cultural usage. In Europe, they were once used to create cheap alternatives to candles. In Japan, they have been woven into coverings for tatami mats.
