PP 591Enchanting, large, heavy cupped 6" blooms of golden primrose-yellow with soft rose-pink petal edges, up to 50 petals per beautiful flower. Rich, glossy, dark green, leathery foliage. This is a classic and extremely popular rose.
Bred in 1935 France by Frances Meilland (member of a famous rose-breeding family), Peace rose was flown out as budwood during the German invasion to friends in Europe and the United States. It was formally introduced to the US public on April 29, 1945, the day Berlin fell to Allied forces. When delegates met in the US to establish the UN, Peace roses were placed in each of their rooms.
Repeat bloomer - blooms in flushes throughout the growing season.
