Great White Trillium
Trillium grandiflorum
RARE. WNC Native. Ephemeral queens of the spring forest! If you've ever seen a carpet of these in bloom in the national forests around us, you'll know how magical a sight that is! These beautiful wildflowers have large, (2-4") showy white flowers atop pleasing green foliage. These plants wake up early, bloom, and by the heat of summer they have quietly shut down, a strategy to work around the leafy green trees above them.
Trilliums teach us to slow down and approach things thoughtfully. Trilliums grow slowly, but they can also be incredibly long-lived, over 50 years! Under ideal conditions of rich, moist, well-draining soil in partial to full shade, they will slowly spread.
Trillium grandiflorums are ideal for native gardens, pollinator gardens, shade gardens, and more.
❤️RCN Staff Favorite - multiple staff members are growing and recommend these plants! We love them!
