Eastern Narrow-Leaved Sedge
Carex amphibola
These WNC native sedges are surprisingly ornamental with narrow, green foliage growing in a fountain-shaped mound. In summer through fall, this species forms tidy clumps of dark green foliage that would be a great substitute for lily turf (Liriope sp.)
Use these natives in woodland gardens, rain gardens, shade plantings, meadows, banks, or massed as a low-maintenance ground cover.
🦋They attract butterflies to the garden and serve as larval hosts for some Skippers.
