Fabulous WNC Native! ‘Cheyenne Sky' Switchgrasses are low maintenance, perennial warm season ornamental grasses. They have strong vertical/upright stems that develop blue/green and become streaked with dramatic dark reds as the season shapes into summer. These incredibly resilient plants are extremely versatile in the garden!

Switchgrass has many stunning visual characteristics, but the peaceful swishing and rustling sounds they make in a gentle breeze will also enhance the soundscape of your garden. Switchgrass is a very versatile plant. It can be used as a specimen plant to break up a garden and offer important vertical height and unique textures. They can be used to provide habitat for birds and other wildlife, especially massed, they can be effective plants for creating a screen or break, and are excellent plants for large containers. 

These are great, low maintenance plants for butterfly gardens, children's gardens, cutting gardens, native gardens, pollinator gardens, rain gardens, and more! Planted in masse near a hardscape or pond, it provides a complete sensory experience year round.

Once established, they are drought tolerant, can handle urban conditions, salt, wet soils, and more. They can be planted near Black Walnut trees.
