Sweet Marjoram
Origanum majorana
Lighter and sweeter than Oregano (Origanum vulgare). Popular culinary herb is found in many Italian, Greek, and French dishes, as well as in Middle Eastern cooking. Lends a spicy, peppery flavor to foods. Also used in tea blends. Grown as an annual, or in containers. Foliage can be used fresh, dried, or frozen. The leaves are harvested prior to blooming.
Low maintenance. Drought tolerant, heat tolerant.
Plant Nerd: The ancient Romans knew Sweet Marjoram as the herb of happiness, and believed it increased longevity.
Full sun. Moist, well-draining soil.
