Blue Star Juniper
Juniperus squamata ‘Blue Star’
Gorgeous! Sparkling ice blue foliage on dense, swirling, spreading branches, in graceful wide mounds. Creates a colorful contrast to purple and green foliage plants. Use in rock gardens, or as a low border plant. Ideal for mass plantings. Evergreen.
These are ideal plants for establishing strong, healthy boundaries with deer and other creatures. They aren't thorny exactly, but they also aren't soft to the touch.
Drought tolerant and extremely resilient once established. Juniperus squamata plants are also tolerant of poor soils and urban conditions.
🦌Extremely deer resistant - deer want nothing to do with these plants.
Full sun.
3’T x 4’W.
Zones 4-9, cold hardy down to -30F.
💚Plant Nerd: Juniperus squamata are native to a large swath of mountainous areas of Asia, above 5000'. These sturdy mountain plants are extremely adaptable and can handle a very wide range of conditions - just don't put them in boggy areas with poor drainage - and they can happily (though slowly) grow for 50-100+ years. In plants, slow growth is usually linked with longevity.
