Create a spectacular show with masses of fragrant, white to pink flowers on this large flowering cherry with a beautiful, spreading, arching crown. Glossy, dark green leaves turn bright yellow in fall. A stunning specimen and small shade tree. Deciduous.
'Akebono' translates to Daybreak in English, and is a classic flowering cherry cultivar from 1925. It is currently the most numerous type of flowering cherry planted in the famous Tidal Basin in Washington DC - home of the National Cherry Blossom Festival.
Yoshino flowering cherry trees are included in the The City of Asheville's Recommended Species List (2022).
