Elderberry 'York'
Sambucus canadensis 'York'

This beautiful ornamental and fruiting shrub features very large clusters of creamy-white flowers and heavy crops of large, purplish-black berries. York's berries make delicious pies, jelly, and wine; the flowers are dried for tea. Easy to grow native shrub with renowned medicinal properties. These rugged plants are ideal for stream bank stabilization, steep slopes, and other difficult areas.

Plant with another cultivar for pollination.

🐦Elderberries have high wildlife value - they are larval host plants for butterflies and moths, they attract beneficial insects to the garden, support our native bumble bees. Many birds benefit from Elderberries: they devour the insects, feed the caterpillars to their young, and love the extremely nutritious berries!
