Itea virginica ‘Henry’s Garnet’

Brilliant red-purple fall foliage color lasts into winter. Slender clusters of fragrant white flowers in early summer. Best in moist, fertile soils but can handle heavy and clay soils as long as there is adequate drainage. Thrives in the dappled sunlight under the canopy of larger trees and in natural woodland settings. Overall, these plants are very versatile in the landscape, great massed in informal and semi-wooded areas, and attract pollinators. Deciduous. Species is a Native to WNC, and much of the Southeast.
