Apple 'Golden Russet'
Malus 'Golden Russet'

One of the most prized apples among apple connoisseurs! Flesh is creamy and dense, yielding a rich, aromatic juice that is high in sugar and acid and low in tannin. Considered to have the best flavor among American russeted apples. Vigorous, productive, and a reliable cropper. Great keeper. Tip-bearer. 1000 chill hours.

Early-mid season bloomer. Pollinator required.

Disease resistances: Resistant to scab and cedar-apple rust.

1800s Heirloom. However there is some debate on the history of this apple and may be even older, as some sources refer to the 1700s. It is likely from New York. Golden Russet apples have many other names, such as Bullet Pippin, English Golden Russet, Fox Apple, Long Tom, Russet Golden, and Rusty Coat.
