Easy to grow perennial herb. Foliage can be used to create relaxing teas, to ward off mosquitos, to attract beneficial lacewing bugs that eat aphids, and famously, to attract natural rodent controllers aka cats. Most cats love catnip, some to the point of destruction, so keeping it in hanging baskets works well.
