RARE. Crisp, juicy and tender fruit with its delicious pineapple-like flavor and citrus-like fragrance. Harvest in October and ripen on window sills. High in Vitamin C and pectin, sweet enough to eat fresh but the flavor really shines when cooked in tasty preserves and baked goods. Prized variety from Ukraine.
10-12’T.
Zones 4-9.
The flowers are pollen/nectar rich, and attract pollinators.
Plant Nerd: these are ancient plants with a long culinary history - Quince has been used by humanity since at least 5000 BCE. They are featured in Roman cookbooks, and in Renaissance still life paintings.
