RARE. Species is native to WNC. Unique foliage has snowy white tips that contrast dramatically against the mature, dark green needles. A small, single shrub slowly growing to a tree with relatively fine texture contributes a large, elegant flash of brilliance to brighten the shade garden. 

The unusual variegated foliage is most pronounced during summer.

Loves acidic, moist, well-draining soil.

Cold hardy to zone 4 (-30F).
