All the romance of Wisteria - but in the WNC native form! These gorgeous twining vines start to bloom at an early age, so you don't have to wait for incredible beauty. Lovely 4-6" purple racemes arch gracefully downwards. Train on a sturdy arbor, pergola, gazebo, trellis or fence. 'Amethyst Falls' is slower growing than the wild type and easy to maintain.
In the wild, these are found in moist areas, alongside streams and ponds.
Eventually, these can reach up to 30', but they are easily trained and pruned to be whatever size and shape you desire. In fact, they respond well to pruning, and will reward you with ample blooms.
For maximum blooms, grow in full sunlight (6-8 hours of direct light), although they can tolerate partial shade.
Attracts butterflies! Host plant for: Marine Blue, Zarucco Duskywing, and skippers
Deer tend to avoid these plants.
Zones 5-9.
