Pink Sparkler™ Birchleaf Spirea
Spiraea betulifolia 'COURISPI01' PP27,933
Pink Sparkler™ Birchleaf Spirea are lovely, rounded shrubs that bloom in early summer with large pink flowers. They make a statement in autumn with burgundy-red leaves that contrast against a rebloom of flowers that appear down each stem, giving an even greater pop of pink. Pink Sparkler™ Spiraeas need very little pruning to keep their pleasing shape.
Drought tolerant once established.
🦌Deer resistant: these plants aren't at the top of the deer menu.
3-4'T x W
Full sun to partial shade.
Zones 3-8, cold hardy down to -40F.
💚Plant Nerd: You might just be wondering, is this Spiraea betulifolia the main species that is native to East Asia, or could it be from the lesser known variant ound in the west coast of the USA (var. lucida), or the lesser known variant found in the east coast - including here in NC (var. corymbosa) ? Alas, the plant patent is vague on details, but given the horticultural world's deep love of plants from East Asia, we'll run with the assumption that it's from there instead of obscure little populations here in the US. These plants were bred in France by Jacques Couturieux.
