Ginkgo biloba 'Mariken' syn. Gingko biloba 'Mariken'

Delightfully curled and cupped new foliage of celery green turns super vibrant yellow before dropping in autumn. Thick branches loaded with dense foliage make an architectural statement in the garden. These slow-growing, deciduous conifers are incredible for bonsai, containers, and for small spaces generally. Pot these up and place them on patios, decks, and other highly visible spaces to be enjoyed. Species is native to Asia.

💚Plant Nerd: 'Mariken' originated as witch's broom (funky random growth on a plant) found in 1995 by Piet Vergeldt in Kronenburger Park, Nijmegen, The Netherlands. 

🌿Ginkgoes have a very long history of human usage. One interesting option is using the foliage as a natural yellow dye for silk, wool, or other textiles. The plant's chemistry appears to add anti-microbial properties to the fabric. Pretty cool!
