Yucca 'Color Guard'
Yucca filamentosa
Slightly arching, sword-shaped, striped foliage of creamy-white against dark green provides great architectural interest. Showy spires of fragrant snow white blooms in summer. These incredibly sturdy and resilient plants solve a lot of problems in the garden, and thrive where many other plants struggle. Use as a striking accent or container specimen, in green roofs, or used in mass plantings. Once established, tolerant of wind, heat, humidity, and drought. They also have moderate tolerance to salt. Evergreen.

💚Plant Nerd: These plants have many common names, including: Adam's Needle, Curlyleaf Yucca, and Spoonleaf Yucca. Interestingly, they are in the Asparagus family and yes they are edble - the flowers taste somewhat like bitter artichoke and can be used fresh in salads, cooked in soups or stews, or roasted.
Native Americans have used these plants for a variety of purposes, including food, medicine, cordage and soap. The leaves of Yucca filamentosa have the strongest fibers of any North American native plant! Wow!
