Zamioculcas zamiifolia

Thick, dark green, shiny leaves on thick stems, and in the soil, potato-like rhizomes store water. Great beginner plant, or for very busy people. ZZ plants are native to eastern Africa.

Has low water needs; good drainage is important. The underground potato-like storage rhizomes for storing extra water - an adaptation for surviving in arid climates - means that these plants thrive on neglect. Water when their soil is dry.

Prefers indirect bright light, but can tolerate medium to low, and notably can survive on artificial lighting. Good air cleaner. Native to Eastern Africa. Keep above 55°F - will be happiest between 65°F-80°F. Slowly grows to 3-4’T x W.

These plants have a history of traditional medicinal uses.
