Thuja occidentalis is an evergreen conifer covered in rich, green foliage, and delicious fragrance. 'Emerald Green' is a semi-dwarf cultivar with a compact, narrowly pyramidal habit.

US Native - while these are technically native to Western North Carolina, they are very rare in the wild here. They are mostly found in the northeast and great lakes regions, where they enjoy a relatively cool climate and moist, well-drained soils. Not drought tolerant.
🌲They can be planted near Black Walnuts (juglone tolerant).
🌲These plants provide nesting sites for songbirds.

They have many common names, including: American arborvitae, Eastern arborvitae, Northern white-cedar, and Swamp Cedar.
